Who we are

  • Alexa Drumey-Grant

    Digital content creator

    Photographer, filmmaker and social media content creator, Lexi is responsible for documenting Pier events. Inspired by Pier, she set up her own LetsTryLocal campaign creating impactful short form content for local independent businesses.

  • Amanda Hearn

    PR support

    A PR consultant specialising in where entertainment meets social impact. Amanda offers strategic communications, event media management, and publicity campaigns – with a particular focus on books, TV, and live events.  She particularly enjoys working with creators, scriptwriters and authors.

  • Amy Shepherd

    Creative copywriting

    Journalist, comms strategist and content writer with almost a decade’s experience supporting charities and purpose-led brands amplify the stories that matter. Specialising in writing about sustainable brands, mental health and wellness, food, music and culture, Amy is Contributing Editor for Pier Journal.

  • Becca Perl

    Writing and illustration

    A journalist, comms manager and copywriter with more than 20 years’ experience, Becca is Pier’s lead food writer - and also illustrates her articles. Food is her passion, and she runs a blog called The Adventurous Glutton and is Great Taste judge coordinator. She also illustrates for menus, packaging, books, logos and podcasts.

  • Bethany Piper

    Copywriting and editing

    Copywriter, proofreader and editor with a keen eye for detail, Bethany single-handedly proofs Pier Journal. She can also turn her hand to a range of comms tasks from blog writing and ghostwriting to social media posts and more for a range of clients from the corporate sector and industry to wellbeing brands.

  • Izzy Wedderburn

    Illustration

    A talented illustrator and designer, Izzy is responsible for our regular illustrated sites page in the journal. She also helps us with design. Pier inspired her to launch her own magazine too - New Mountain Magazine - which she edits, designs and runs.

  • Jo Tyler

    Podcasts and audio

    Our audio expert Jo has a wealth of experience under her belt creating audio content for radio, podcasts and art installations and festivals. She was one of the team behind BBC 6 Music before working at Bournemouth University training the next generation of audiophiles.

  • Laura K Williams

    Strategic comms & campaigns

    Journalist, editor and strategic communications and campaigns lead with 20+ years’ experience working with charities, public sector and purpose led organisations and projects to raise their profile, engage people in taking action and have bigger impact. Laura is Editorial Director of Pier Journal.

  • Olivia Thurlow-Mills

    Events and projects

    With years of working for agencies and some of the world’s biggest brands under her belt, Liv is an all-rounder with experience as a creative producer, strategist, account manager, social media lead and writer. She also runs her own craft project - Kinship Club - delivering creative workshops.
