Birds of Poole Harbour

Birds of Poole Harbour is a local charity which aims to inspire hope for nature through the delivery of innovative conservation projects, bird surveys, community outreach projects and educational events.

They are lead partners in the Poole Harbour Osprey Reintroduction Project, which has seen the majestic species return as a breeding bird to the South Coast after an absence of nearly 200 years. The team delivers a School Bird Boat Project, taking local primary school pupils on free boat trips around the harbour and engaging them with wildlife. They also run a Young Birders Club, helping teenagers connect with birding through monthly free events.

The events take place throughout the year from cruises to ringing demos, including a range of free events.

The organisation runs a variety of guided cruises around Poole Harbour, looking for White-tailed Eagles, Ospreys, Spoonbills, Avocet and more. Popular Safari Cruises operate year-round and make the most of the birding that comes with the different seasons. During the summer, they run Jurassic Seabird Cruises, and our award-winning Osprey Cruises during the peak of their migration.
