Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra presents a concert featuring Zemlinksy’s much underperformed Lyric Symphony. Inspired by Bengali poet Tagore’s The Gardener, the piece is an exploration - over the course of seven movements - of longing and desire. One of Britain’s most renowned baritones, Roderick Williams OBE takes on the mighty piece which merges symphony with opera, baritone and soprano with one another. Soprano Claudio Boyle and Chief Conductor Mark Wigglesworth complete a stellar line-up.

Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony meanwhile is powerful, satisfying music which displays his true gift for melody. No one really knows why he never completed it – perhaps it was left unfinished because it could not, need not be finished.
